LA LOGÍSTICA DE LOS LEVANTAMIENTOS HIDROGRÁFICOS EN EL RÍO DE LA PLATA Y PATAGONIA EN TIEMPOS DEL HMS BEAGLE

Resumen
La logística para desplazarse, hacer mapas e investigar en los territorios de los nuevos estados sudamericanos implicó obtener los permisos necesarios de las autoridades, el apoyo de los cónsules y de las redes culturales, así como una serie de individuos conocedores de las rutas, los transportes y las regiones a visitar. Para la expediciones hidrográficas, los pilotos locales fueron referentes importantes para recabar informes y auxiliares indispensables para determinadas travesías y trabajos. Así, se anudarían servicios, itinerarios y redes de circulación de información. Este artículo se detiene en estas cuestiones, examinando parte de los levantamientos hidrográficos en el Río de la Plata y Patagonia y el papel de los prácticos de estas costas en las décadas de 1820 y 1830.

The logistics to move, to make maps and to explore in the territories of the new South American states implied the necessary permissions of the authorities, the support of diplomatic and cultural networks, as well as individuals that knew routes, transports and regions to visit. For the hydrographic expeditions, the local pilots were important for obtaining nautical reports and helping in the surveys of particular areas. They would combine services, itineraries and circulation networks of information and charts. In this article, we examine some issue and practices of the surveying voyages at La Plata River and Patagonia and the role of pilots of these coasts in the 1820 and 1830 decades.
